Morel(S)

DESCRIPTION:

AT-MOREL (S) is an emulsified blend of mineral oils and non-hazardous chemicals, specially formulated to produce excellent release properties which are superior to those of conventional mould oil. AT-MOREL (S) is a mould release agent with special corrosion inhibitor for all type of formwork suitable for metal formwork. On application it provides a clean and smooth release of formwork/shuttering plates resulting in smooth hard uniform finish concrete with reduced incidence of blow holes. AT-MOREL (S) also prolongs the life of shuttering plates/formwork especially metal formwork since it contains corrosion inhibitor. AT-MOREL (S) forms a thin water repellent chemical barrier with alkalies in concrete, thus preventing absorption of moisture into the shuttering plates/formwork, thereby enabling easy stripping and acting as a protection to steel and wooden formwork.

ADVANTAGES

  • Ensures fair-faced concrete
  • Suitable for all types of Metal formwork and is non-staining
  • Does not rust metal moulds or equipment
  • Minimises cleaning of shutters before re-use
  • Can be used with steam curing
  • Reduces incidence of air pocket and tendency of surface spalling of corners
  • Does not inhibit application of paints etc to finished concrete (trials recommended)
  • Non-hazardous and non-toxic
  • Easy to use and economical

USES

  • AT-MOREL (S) is suitable for all types of formworks especially metal formwork to give an optimum release and quality surface finish to concrete, over wide range of mix designs. It provides quick, clean and easy stripping of moulds and formwork. Ensures high quality, fair-faced and stain-free concrete surface. Protects aluminum windows and door frames from plaster and mortar splashes. AT-MOREL (S) is recommended for…
    • Non absorbent materials
    • Aluminum
    • Steel
    • Fiber-glass , etc

RE-USE OF MOULDS

  • Due to the excellent release properties, little or no deposit of cement paste remains on the shutter
  • Minimum cleaning time & a further coat of AT-MOREL (S) renders shuttering ready for future re-use

PRODUCT FEATURES

  • Useful for all kinds of formwork in all cement concrete applications like railway sleepers, tiles, spun pipes, pre-cast/pre-stressed structures
  • Clean and smooth release of formwork with excellent concrete surface texture
  • Corrosion inhibitor increases life of formwork & non-staining
  • Can be used with steam curing in pre-cast plants with increased productivity
  • Has no negative effect on the properties of concrete nor it will impair the addition of subsequent surface treatments
  • Low consumption and economic

PROPERTIES

FORM Ready To Use Liquid
COLOUR Pale Yellow
SPECIFIC GRAVITY @ 30°C 0.830 ± 0.200 g/cc
SERVICE TEMPERATURE Suitable for use with steam cured concrete
FLASH POINT 60° C
NON STAINING Does not stain concrete and can be used safely with white cement to ensure good finish

CONCRETE SURFACE QUALITY

  • In addition to prevent adhesion of the cement paste to the mould or shutter face, AT-MOREL (S) allows air, which would otherwise be trapped, to escape from the face when the concrete is being poured and vibrated.
  • Pockets of air, trapped on the shutter faces of concrete are a major cause of imperfections, necessitating remedial work. AT-MOREL (S) avoids time and cost for this.
  • The chemical reaction between AT-MOREL (S) and cement in concrete mix produces a strongly hydrophobic surface. This ripples surplus water at the interface with the mould and preserves uniformity of surface texture and colour.

ECONOMICAL

  • On account of high coverage, the applied cost of AT-MOREL (S) compares favorably with that of conventional mould oil
  • Considering the technical benefits additionally obtained, the overall economy of using AT-MOREL (S) can be significant

INSTRUCTION FOR USE

  • PREPARATION OF NEW MOULDS
    • No preparation is necessary but if extensive re-use of Metal moulds is envisaged, it is advisable to protect all new surfaces with AT-MOREL (S)
  • PREPARATION OF USED MOULDS
    • For used moulds, all traces of cement must be removed together with any surface deposits of previous oils / release agents
  • COATING
    • AT-MOREL (S) can be applied by brush, sponge or conventional mould oil-sprayer
    • If an oil-sprayer is used, adequate care should be taken to choose correct size of sprayer
    • Apply a single thin and even coat of AT-MOREL (S) over the entire surface
    • It is necessary to apply a very thin coating of AT-MOREL (S) to achieve the necessary coverage
    • Excess application is never recommended and it leads to wastage which is un-economical and may lead to surface dusting
    • Wire or brush off any excess particles on the surface and apply one coat of AT-MOREL (S) as before
    • To remove AT-MOREL (S) completely, for recoating mould or shutter surface, use strong industrial detergent together with stiff brushing & then thoroughly rinse with clean water
