FloorHardener(M)

DESCRIPTION:

AT-FLOOR HARDENER (M) is a specially manufactured metallic aggregate for mixing with cement and stone or granite chips, to provide the hardest surface to flooring and pavings, which will remain wear-proof, dustproof, waterproof and greaseproof. It does not affect the setting times of other properties of the cement, with which it is mixed.

USES:

  • AT-FLOOR HARDENER (M) is used in following structure types:
    • It is ideally suited for use in all types of industrial floors, which are subjected to heavy trucking and load movement
    • It can withstand the impact load due to movement of heavy load over the floor topping
    • It is specially recommended in heavy engineering factories or as workshop floor toppings, in warehouses and gangways where trolleys with metal wheels or forklifts carrying heavy load frequently

ADVANTAGES:

  • AT-FLOOR HARDENER (M) provides greatly improved floor life. Key benefits are:
    • Remarkably increases the impact, abrasion and wear resistance
    • Suitable for heavy duty operations
    • Imparts waterproofing properties to the floor
    • Resists capillary rise of ground water

CONSUMPTION:

  • FOR HEAVY DUTY FLOORS
    • At first 1 part AT-FLOOR HARDENER (M) and 4 parts cement should be mixed thoroughly in a dry state. Then 1 part of this mixed material is to be mixed with 2 parts of stone chips thoroughly. After uniform mixing of the dry material, necessary amount of clean fresh water is to be added to have a workable consistency for properly placing and compacting the floor topping. ~2 kg of AT-FLOOR HARDENER (M) will be consumed per sq.m. for 13mm thick floor topping.
  • FOR LIGHT DUTY FLOORS
    • At first 1 part AT-FLOOR HARDENER (M) and 5 parts cement should be mixed thoroughly in a dry state. Then 1 part of this mixed material is to be mixed with 2 parts of stone chips thoroughly. After uniform mixing of the dry material, necessary amount of clean fresh water is to be added to have a workable consistency for properly placing and compacting the floor topping. ~1.5 kg of AT-FLOOR HARDENER (M) will be consumed per sq.m. for 13mm thick floor topping.

INSTRUCTION FOR USE:

  • The AT-FLOOR HARDENER (M) should always remain dry until it is being used with the cement floor concrete. Fresh ordinary Portland cement, conforming to Indian Standard Specification should always be used in preference to Rapid Hardening Cement. Even blended cements can also be used, provided the quality of cement is good.
The aggregate to be used as the floor topping, should be clean, angular crushed granite or quartzite stone chips of size 6mm down. The water cement ratio of the concrete should be as low as possible and preferably less than 0.45. To achieve this, concrete accelerator AT-PLAST (HE) is recommended as an admixture to the concrete, as this will provide. The much needed workability required for laying the top surface
  • FOR LAYING A NEW FLOOR
After laying a concrete base of 100mm to 150mm a granolithic layer of approximately 38mm is to be followed. Over this granolithic layer, a AT-FLOOR HARDENER (M) topping (suitable mixer of AT-FLOOR HARDENER (M), Cement and other Aggregates) of a thickness of 13mm to 19mm is to be laid, levelled and finished. The topping should always be laid over the granolithic surface, when it remains wet. When the initial set of the floor topping takes place, the surface is to be trowelled off to a polished smooth finish. In large projects where it is possible to lay the floor in single operation, the granolithic layer can be dispensed with. In that case, a concrete base is to be laid to the required level for laying the AT-FLOOR HARDENER (M) topping over it. This topping should be laid when the base layer remains wet and finished by means of trowelling to a polished smooth surface.
  • FOR TOPPING ON OLD FLOOR
Remove the old concrete surface to a depth of at least 5mm to 7mm and clear all loose particles and dust. In case of an oil soaked surface, the chipping should be done upto the oil contamination level, till clean and sound concrete is found. This clean surface is to be thoroughly soaked with water for at least 12 – 15 hours prior to laying the concrete base and floor topping. No surface water should remain before the application of the cement slurry over the surface. Apply the cement slurry over the entire surface and then lay the ordinary granolithic layer of 13mm to 19mm thickness over this using the AT-FLOOR HARDENER (M) mix, to the required thickness. When this granolith layer is still wet, trowel off to a smooth, polished finish.
